Registration Rules:

  1. On-spot registration is not allowed
  2. More than one team can register from an institution

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Participants must get their own gear (Guitars, Keyboard, Processors)
  2. Participants need to send one video for online audition for preliminary round at [email protected] latest by 25th January 2019
  3. Microphones and Drum Kit will be provided by the college
  4. Obscenity (at the discretion of judges) and foul language of any kind is not allowed and will lead to disqualification
  5. Each band will have 18 minutes of total stage time, including set up time. 5% of total marks shall be deducted for each extra minute, if the time limit is exceeded
  6. Sound will be disconnected after 20 minutes. Time limit must be strictly adhered to
  7. Extra points will be awarded if a band performs a fusion of different genre
  8. There should be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 performing members in a band
  9. The decision of organizers regarding the final line-up will be unalterable
  10. The decision of judge(s) shall be final and binding

(War Of Djs)

Music is the armour to survive the reality of life. Suit up for the crowning battle, headphones aloft! Bring your best "weapons," step into the battle ground and let the best party mix win at "War of DJs."

Rules and Regulations:

  1. The participants are required to submit a non-stop MIXTAPE of 6 tracks (Duration of 7-8 minutes) of their choice (of any genre) at [email protected] latest by 25th January 2019
  2. On the basis of entries received, the top 8 participants will be selected for the event
  3. On stage time will be 15 minutes (including set up time). If the time limit exceeds, participants will be marked negatively
  4. Participants can use any genre of their choice
  5. No recorded set will be allowed
  6. No participant will be allowed to bring his/her own console

Riff Off

(Guitar Play)

  Ever let the strings of your soul connect to the surreal yet real world? Reverberating thoughts and pitches? Music has been one way out of all chaos, and serves peace like no other. Every spirit different and every thirst unlike, yet some sounds unite all. Acoustic or Electric! Go solo this Zest’19 at Riff Off because you are a whole and that magic doesn’t wait for somebody else to weave itself. Sound you!  

Registration Rules:

  1. Participants may register on-spot too, depending on the availability of slots

Rules and Regulations:

  1. This is an individual event
  2. Participants are required to bring their own guitars and patches/pedals/processors for the event
  3. The event comprises of three rounds:

Round 1

  • In the preliminary round, each participant will have 10 minutes on stage, including time for tuning, sound check, etc.
  • A basic sound setup will be provided
  • Backing tracks will be permitted in the preliminary round only

Round 2

  • Second round will be a face-off
  • Four guitarists will be selected from the first round and will be paired randomly and thereby 2 face-offs will take place

Round 3

  • The final round will again be a face-off between the winners of the semi-final round

Snare Crash

(Drums Duel)

  Satisfy the yearning for a beat, grove and song all at once. Step up the tempo, make the cymbals beat to the heavy and energetic music. Think you can drag your opponents through the mud with your enticing roll? Come, partake in our annual search for the best amateur drummer in the country.  

Rules and Regulations:

  1. This is an individual event
  2. The event comprises of 3 rounds:

Round 1:

  • First round is an elimination round where participants will play a solo (of their choice)
  • The time limit for this round is 120 seconds

Round 2:

  • In this round, the participant will jam on a track/bass line played to them on the spot
  • It is an elimination round
  • The time limit for this round is 90 to 120 seconds

Round 3:

  • This round will be a duel round or face-off round
  • In this round two participants at a time will battle against each other on drums
  • The decision of the judges shall be final and binding
  1. Drum set will be provided by the college
  2. Participants are advised to get their own drum-sticks for their convenience
  3. The competition will be judged by professional artists. The decision of the judge and the organizing committee shall be final and binding

Game Of Throats

(Beat Boxing)

  Who needs a drum or guitar when you have a whole orchestra within? Well, if you are over the “boots and cats” and “puppets and puppeteers” phase of beatboxing, then what are you waiting for? Kick off the loop, snare the audience and show what wonders your vocal bands can do.    

Rules and Regulations:

  1. It is an individual event
  2. No musical instrument/tools are allowed
  3. All sounds that can be  made from human vocal organs are approved
  4. Any dangerous physical contact on stage will result in immediate expulsion of the participant
  5. Decision of the judge(s) shall be final and binding
  6. The event comprises of two rounds: elimination round followed by the final round (this rule is subject to change depending on the number of participants)

Round 1: Elimination Round

  • Each participant will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to perform (including sound check)
  • In case any participant exceeds the time limit, negative marking will be done
  • Selected participants will go to the next round

Round 2: Face Off

  • Selected finalists will qualify for the face-off round
  • Participants will be divided in groups of two for the face-off round
  • Each competitor will get 30 seconds to perform in face-off, twice. (First A then B, then repeat)
  • Face-offs will be continued till the final winner is decided
  • In case of a tie, the tie-breaker round will be introduced

Pitch Perfect

(Solo Singing)

Are you the one singing up a storm around the house? Or the one bringing life to all the reunions and parties by humming melodious tunes? All the singers, it is time to pull up your socks as Pitch Perfect is coming your way. You have a chance to exhibit your singing skills and sweep us off our feet.

Rules and Regulations:

Round 1: Preliminary Round

  • This round has two categories – English and Hindi
  • Participants have to submit their audio recording (.mp3 or .mp4 format) of 2-3 minutes on [email protected] by 25th January 2019
  • Selected candidates will be contacted by the organizers
  • Use of vulgar language may lead to disqualification
  • Both the categories will be judged separately

Round 2: Final Round

  • This round is also divided into two categories – English and Hindi
  • Maximum time limit for the song will be 7 minutes including stage setup
  • Participants can bring only one instrumentalist or instrument
  • Only the vocalist/singer will be judged and not the instrumentalist
  • Karaoke is allowed; karaoke should reach Team Pitch Perfect one hour before the competition
  • Use of derogatory language is prohibited
  • Decision of the judges shall be final and binding
