Rhythm is omnipresent and Dance, a rite which celebrates the harmony of life that springs from every inch of the universe. The universality in the language of dance ensnares each soul into a trance of blissful nirvana. Let your body sink in the vortex of rhythm and let it weave the tapestry of life with your gestures, stance, swag, mudra and expression. It’s you and the rhythm, so come and bloom in Zest’19 and dance to your glory.

 

Dance-Ma-Tazz

Group Dance

From sequences of contemporary to beats of hip-hop to the grace of any other dance form - Dance with your group and bolster your finesse and artistry in showcasing coordinated group choreography. We have forged this event to test the esprit de corps of the participating teams. Theme: Fusion of Western Dance forms  

Registration Rules:

  1. Prior registration is compulsory for all the teams
  2. More than one team is allowed to register from an institution
 

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Teams will perform Western dance forms (like Bollywood, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Salsa etc.). Folk, Classical and Semi-Classical dance forms are not allowed
  2. Theme: Fusion. Deviation from the theme will lead to disqualification
  3. Team size may vary from 7 to 20. On stage, limit is 15, except for the third round
  4. Only 2 volunteers per team are allowed, excluding team instructor/ non-performer choreographer (if any)
  5. Exceeding the limit of participants and volunteers will lead to disqualification
  6. The decision of judges will be final and binding in all the rounds
The event comprises of three rounds:

Round 1: Elimination Round

  • Teams must send a short snippet of 3 to 4 minutes of their performance at [email protected]
  • Last date of submission is 25th January 2019
  • Sending an edited video will lead to negative marking
  • All the members in the video must be present during the actual performance
  • No costumes are required in this round
  • Voiceovers and fusion music is allowed
  • Vulgarity and obscenity at any point is strictly prohibited. It can lead to immediate disqualification. Songs to be chosen accordingly
  • The mail must include contact details of the appropriate person to coordinate with

Round 2: Showcase Round

  • Selected teams from Round 1 will perform the same extended performance as performed in the Elimination Round. This performance will be subject to judgement again
  • Time limit: 7-8 minutes
  • All the rules of the Elimination Round will be followed in this round too
  • Teams will not be allowed to change their tracks or team members
  • All the selected teams will be allotted green room in this round
  • Time will be allotted for stage marking, depending upon the circumstances. College and event authorities can’t be questioned or be held accountable for the same

Round 3: Final Round

  • Songs (of 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes each) will be assigned to all the teams on the spot by the organizers
  • Songs will be chosen by a draw at the end of the Showcase Round
  • Teams should perform the dance form according to the wish of the Judge who may change it anytime (by announcing or using placards) throughout the duration of the song.
  • No preparation time will be given to the teams
  • No props are allowed in this round
  • Total number of participants performing in this round will be 7
  • Extra points shall be rewarded for creativity and spontaneity

Steppin' Out

Solo Dance

Hey soloists! Lights in the room cast a romantic glow and wait for you to come and dance on its fiddling tunes. Wake up and feel your legs, jump high and dance with great delight. Mesmerize the audience with your sway, dance your way down the rostrum and become the star you dreamt of. Display your brilliance; our stage gives you the chance to flaunt your best moves. Dance in glory!

Rules and Regulations:

General Rules:
  1. Decision made by the judges in all rounds shall be final and binding
  2. The event comprises of 4 Rounds:
    • Elimination Round
    • Showcase Round
    • Battle Round
    • Last Man Standing
 

ROUND 1: Elimination Round (Video Prelims)

  • Interested candidates are required to send their own prepared routine to [email protected] with their Name, College Name and Contact No. latest by 25th January 2019
  • Time limit of the video should be 60-90 seconds
  • Negative marking will be exercised for exceeding the time limit
  • All dance forms are allowed, including classical, semi-classical and folk
  • Fusion of songs and voiceovers are allowed
  • Vulgarity and obscenity at any point is strictly prohibited and can lead to disqualification; songs must be chosen appropriate lyrics
  • Props are not allowed; use of props will lead to disqualification
  • The sent video should not be edited, it should be uncut; sending an edited video will lead to disqualification

ROUND 2: Showcase Round (Ground Prelims)

  • Participants selected from Round 1 are required to perform the same routine with a revised time limit of 3 minutes
  • Negative marking will be exercised for exceeding the time limit
  • All dance forms are allowed including classical, semi-classical and folk
  • Fusion of songs and voiceovers are allowed
  • Vulgarity and obscenity at any point is strictly prohibited and can lead to immediate disqualification; songs must be chosen accordingly
  • Props are not allowed; usage of props will lead straight to disqualification
  • Costume usage between the performances will not be counted as prop usage
  • Participants must submit their songs in a pen drive, 60 minutes prior to the event; use of mobile phones is not allowed

ROUND 3: Battle Round (Beats v/s Taal)

  • Participants selected from Round 2 will qualify for Round 3 i.e. Battle Round
  • In this round, there will be a face-off between 2 participants
  • Each bout will run for 3 minutes. Each participant will be given 1 minute to put his/her best foot forward after which there will be a final showdown of 1 minute between the two participants
  • Songs will be played on the spot

ROUND 4: Last Man Standing (Final Round)

  • 9 participants will qualify for the final round
  • A track of 2 minutes will be played on the spot; participants have to perform together in teams of 3
  • One participant from each team will qualify for the final showdown
  • Last participant in the final showdown will be declared as the winner of the event
  • Decision made by the judges shall be final and binding

Double Trouble

Duet Dance

 

“Come and trip it as you go, on the light fantastic toe!”

  If you think you form the best dancing duo, and you and your partner can set the stage on fire with your sizzling chemistry, this is your event! Put on your dancing shoes, tap to the beat of music and participate in the most stupendous event that Zest’19 has lined up for you.    

Rules and Regulations:

Team Size: Two members in each team (+1 volunteer) **Any two individuals can pair-up (irrespective of their gender) to participate in this event.   Styles:
  • Hip-hop, Contemporary or Latin. Classical and folk are also allowed
  • Participants may perform any styles of Ballroom or Couple Dance from Rumba, Merengue, Samba, Tango, Waltz, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rock 'n' Roll, Jive, Foxtrot, Quick Step, and Paso Doble.
 

General Rules:

  1. Team members can be from different colleges, but both should be students of an educational institute ( presently)
  2. All kinds of songs are allowed. Participants may use more than one song in their performance. Remixes are also allowed
  3. Use of props is allowed, but only at the discretion of the organizers. Teams must bring their own props. No resources shall be provided by the college
  4. Pre-recorded music should be brought in a pen drive in .mp3 format only. Teams must follow the time limit and strictly stick to the allowed styles. Teams shall be disqualified for not doing so
  5. Any kind of fluid, flame, powders, glitters, heavy or sharp objects or any other material which has possibility of tampering/damaging the stage is STRICTLY not allowed
  6. Vulgarity and obscenity at any point is strictly not allowed. It can lead to immediate disqualification. Songs should be chosen accordingly
  7. Violation of any of the above rules, will lead to heavy penalties
  8. Decision of the judges shall be final and binding
    The event comprises of three rounds:  

Round 1 – Elimination Round

  • Time limit: 3-4 mins (+1 min. setup & clearance time)
  • Judges hold the right to stop a performance in between
 

Round 2 -

  • Perform an extended version of the dance sequence performed in the Elimination Round
  • Time limit : 5-6 mins + 2min. (setup & clearance time)
   

Round 3 – Final Round

 
  • In this round, participants will be given a Jodi (through chit system) and a song which will be decided by the organizers
  • Equal time will be given to every team for preparation for the finals
  • Judges’ decision will be final and binding

  4. Stage utilization

  6. Costumes and props
  **Innovation and creativity which appeals to the judges and audience will be considered
